Windows has an exciting way of typing symbols that don’t correspond to a key on the keyboard. Holding the ALT key and typing the symbol’s ALT codes will allow you to insert any symbol you want.
It’s known as the “ALT code” method. I think this is the best way to type certain symbols on the Windows keyboard.
This page contains the ALT codes for almost all Windows symbols.
To use this method to type any symbol, here are the steps you need to follow:
Open the text editor in which you want to type the symbol. Place your cursor where you need to type the symbol. Hold down the Alt key. As you press down the Alt key, type the symbolโs Alt code. (E.g. ALT + 0247 will give you the division symbol) Now release the Alt key. NOTE: Your PC or laptop keyboard needs to have a separate numeric keypad on the right to be able to use this method. If your keyboard doesn’t have this num pad, you can activate it by pressing Fn+NmLk or connecting an external keyboard.
